The experience invites visitors to explore cultural objects that reflect tens of thousands of years of sustainable practices and knowledge systems. Guided by an Aboriginal storyteller, climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge with the Burrawa Indigenous Climb Experience by BridgeClimb. Burrawa is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘above’ or ‘upwards’, and the small group, three-hour tour offers immersive experience sweeping views of Warrane (Sydney Harbour) while presenting Sydney’s history from the perspective of the Gadigal people. You’ll hear stories and discover the origins of familiar place names around the harbour, including Bennelong Point and Barrangaroo.
Vivid Sydney also hosts a program of events as part of Biennale of Sydney’s Art After Dark series at White Bay Power Station. Headline shows from UK soul singer anaiis and American ambient electronic trio Purelink will light up the night sounds, and a special free closing night party is in the wings with a soon-to-be announced line up. Cockle Bay will be transformed for it’s 16th year For its 16th year, with a nightly laser show called Laser Lightfall, set to music, sending choreographed beams of light sweeping across the harbour sky. Running continuously throughout the evening, the presentation features four shows each hour, marking it the most ambitious free laser show ever staged in Australia. One of the country’s most anticipated exhibitions, this year’s annual showcase runs until August 16.

A small cluster of oversized sunflower sculptures greets every visitor next to the entrance of the exhibit. After ticket checking, the standard covid venue procedures, and taking photos at the big “Van Gogh Alive” backboard, there is a small lobby area to the right. Here, there are images of a small selection of Van Gogh’s most iconic work with a short text of background information provided with each picture. I highly recommend taking the time to read through these as it will help with making sense of the screening sequence and why they chose what they chose. A 3D replica of the painting of Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Aries 1888 is on display here for visitors to get a feel of what everyday life was like for this artist who was in constant poverty.
