Before we met, Piven’s assistant had urged me, twice, to ask him about the 100 Year Challenge, in which the actor will skydive to raise money for a site commemorating fallen soldiers. They so clearly want this noted for posterity, it seems only good manners to ask. Piven is clad in a tight jacket and a flat cap that remains firmly on his head, and when he first sits down he warily chooses a seat so far away, I have to lean my body at a 45 degree angle just to catch what he’s saying. But as the hour progresses, he gradually moves closer, slipping into seats nearer to mine every time I say something nice.
Piven has appeared in numerous successful films, including Grosse Pointe Blank, Singles, Very Bad Things, The Family Man, Black Hawk Down, The Kingdom, Heat, PCU, Old School, Rock N Rolla, Serendipity, Smokin' Aces, and Runaway Jury. He has also made cameo appearances in Rush Hour 2 and the U.S. release of Cars. He grew up in Evanston, Illinois, and graduated from Evanston Township High School. As a teenager, he attended Harand Theater Camp in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, where he played Bernardo in West Side Story. In Illinois, he trained at Piven Theatre Workshop, founded by his parents.

His parents are Byrne Piven (1929–2002) and Joyce Hiller Piven (née Goldstein), both of whom were actors and drama teachers. His elder sister is director Shira Piven, whom he has described as one of his first acting teachers; his brother-in-law is director Adam McKay. In 1999, he married Shira Piven, a film and television director.
Most notably, Kilborn hosted The Daily Show and The Late Late Show. He also appeared on SportsCenter and hosted The Kilborn File. Additionally, in film, Kilborn can be seen in The Benchwarmers, The Shaggy Dog , Full of It, and The Bronze. Most recently, Kilborn guest-starred in an episode of ABC's short-lived United We Fall. Outside of film, Elisha Cuthbert played main roles in Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Piven appeared in the first Broadway revival of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow. The production began preview performances on October 3, 2008, and opened on October 23, 2008; the play was due to run through February Jeremy Piven 22, 2009. After Piven missed several performances, on December 17, 2008, Piven's representation announced that due to an undisclosed illness, Piven would be ending his run in the play effective immediately.

Piven also earned a reputation in the tabloids for allegedly being a "rampaging womanizer," according to Rolling Stone. If the rumors are true, he tried to hit on Kim Kardashian while she was filming a cameo for Entourage. And Piven is even more aggressive in the wild where New York Daily News reports he's a "numbers boy" who gathers up women's phone numbers and texts them all the end of the night to see who responds back first.
Reality TV personality Ariane Bellamar made accusations via Twitter in October 2017 that Piven had groped her. Cassidy Freeman came to Bellamar's defense via Instagram when she alluded to her own disturbing past with Piven, who the actress claims engaged in predatory behavior toward her. A week later, advertising exec Tiffany Bacon Scourby alleged Piven had sexually assaulted her in 2003.
