The hypotheses that value-based strategies are implemented in the cortico-basal ganglia loops have been supported by substantial studies reporting neural activities correlated with action values. However, animals often show different strategies, such as the win-stay, lose-switch strategy ; after a rewarded trial, the same action is selected, otherwise other action is selected. To reveal these mechanisms, we have constructed spiking neural network models of STN-GPe circuitry.

The Neural Computation Unit pursues the dual goals of developing robust and flexible learning algorithms and elucidating the brain’s mechanisms for robust and flexible learning. Our specific focus is on how the brain realizes reinforcement learning, in which an agent, biological or artificial, learns novel behaviors in uncertain environments by exploration and reward feedback. We combine top-down, computational approaches and bottom-up, neurobiological approaches to achieve these goals. The major achievements of the three subgroups in the fiscal year 2013 are the following.

This Project proposed an integrated diagnostic method for clarifying the status of human-nature interaction, which became a starting point for achieving "better human life in the future". Then, a "hierarchical watershed management" mechanism was proposed to overcome the inter-hierarchical differences in terms of problem consciousness, promote adaptive management in each hierarchy and carry out environmental diagnosis and monitoring that connects those different hierarchies. The Project was thus engaged in the practical trial and development of techniques to promote communication.

For adaptive management, the main task is to determine how the local community should apply the technique, which involves holding workshops in the local area, and what initiative the local community should take to achieve this. For the promotion of inter-hierarchical communication, the main problem is to achieve a more specific materialization of the techniques so far developed, including GIS or the scenario approach proposed by the Project. Solving these problems requires the development of techniques related to the establishment of a type of study that is based on social science-science coordination and coordination with local communities over an extended time scale during the actual implementation process.
Interestingly, it was predicted that the steady level of adenosine is crucial for the phosphoresponce in the D2R MSNs (Figure 3.1.7). Finally, we integrated the intracellular model with a conductance-based point model of MSNs to confirm the reproducibility of the dopamine-dependent plasticity in terms of electrophysiological properties (Figure 3.1.8). We applied this method to resting state fMRI data. We divided the whole brain into 140 sub-regions based on anatomical divisions , and calculated correlations of mean time-course activations between pairs of sub-regions. Further, the data of depressive subjects were vectorized and subsequently standardized using means and standard deviations for control subjects. As a result, we obtained functional connectivity MRI data with the size of 59 × 9730 .
Following several years’ work at OIE Headquarters in Paris, Dr. Ishibashi has been Deputy Representative of OIE Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific since 2010. In this position, she has been representing the OIE at meetings and conferences in the region aimed at improving animal health and welfare. 2006 Multi-disciplinary research for understanding interactions between humans and nature in the Lake Biwa-Yodo River watershed.. 2006,08 On watershed management methodology-An example of Lake Biwa agricultural turbid water problem. For the purpose of identifying subtypes of depressive subjects, we developed a Gaussian co-clustering method that enables to simultaneously cluster both rows and columns in a given data matrix. In our context of analyzing functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging data (subject × feature), this Bayesian method of clustering has an advantage that it can reveal possible feature-clusters that may be differently relevant to the subject-clusters. Further, since in our method the number of clusters both for rows and columns can be inferred from the data by means of Dirichlet process, it is computationally efficient. In 1994 Dr. Yuki graduated from the Department of Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Miyazaki. She joined Kobe City Office Government in charge of rabies control, animal welfare and management at public health centers. In 2007 she was Assistant Manager at the Kobe Animal Control Center, and assumed her current post in 2012. With 15 texts, 30-plus monographs, and over 300 periodical and proceeding publications, he has moved the HAB, veterinary practice leadership and team-based healthcare delivery to the forefront of veterinary operational systems.
On the other hand, it is little known what sites are phosphorylated by a specific kinase and what extracellular stimuli activate the protein phosphorylation via intracellular signaling cascades, which is a fundamental step to reveal the complete picture of signaling pathways of cellular functions. Prof. Kozo Kaibuchi recently developed a new methodology for screening the target phospholyrated sites of a given kinase using the mass spectrometry, and succeeded in identifying hundreds of phosphorylated sites of representative kinases such as PKA, MAPK, CaMKII and so on. Aiming at facilitating to extract scientifically significant information from a bunch of the data, we developed a database platform for phosphoproteomics under the collaboration with Prof. Kaibuchi. Diagnosis of depression is currently based on long interviews. We investigate how subtypes can be identified and how they can be categorized so as to provide a basis for adequate treatment methods.
Seitai Hoshikai in Japanese means the Institute of the Handmaids of the Holy Eucharist. It is a community of nuns living a life of dedication in a convent near Akita City, possibly one of the most peaceful cities on earth. It is located in a semi-rural area with rice fields and forests eight kilometers north east from Akita City/JR Akita Railway Station, on Highway Route 15.
